Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) East Africa Location East Africa (Regional Role) Experience Required 10+ years of progressive HR experience , with at least 3 5 years in a Business Partnering or Regional HR leadership role across multiple countries. Reporting To Regional Head Human Resources / Country Director Position Summary The HR Business Partner (HRBP) East Africa will act as a strategic partner to business leaders, ensuring the effective execution of people strategies across the region. The role will be responsible for managing the entire employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, industrial relations, compensation & benefits, organization development, compliance, workforce planning, talent management, and employee engagement. The incumbent will support business growth by aligning HR initiatives with organizational objectives while ensuring compliance with local labor laws and best HR practices across East African countries. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic HR Business Partnering Partner with business leaders to develop and implement people strategies aligned with business objectives. Drive organizational effectiveness, productivity, and workforce planning initiatives. Support business transformation, restructuring, and change management programs. Provide data-driven HR insights and recommendations to leadership teams. 2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Lead end-to-end recruitment for managerial and critical positions. Develop talent acquisition strategies to attract high-quality talent. Partner with hiring managers to ensure timely and effective hiring. Build a strong succession pipeline for critical positions. 3. Performance Management Drive performance management processes and goal-setting frameworks. Coach managers on performance improvement, feedback, and talent development. Monitor performance metrics and ensure high-performance culture practices. 4. Employee Relations (ER) Manage employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace investigations. Promote a positive employee relations environment and productive workplace culture. Advise managers on conflict resolution and employee concerns. Ensure consistency and fairness in HR policies and practices. 5. Industrial Relations (IR) Lead union interactions, negotiations, and collective bargaining activities where applicable. Maintain strong relationships with labor unions, worker representatives, and government authorities. Handle labor disputes, disciplinary proceedings, and compliance-related matters. Ensure adherence to labor legislation and statutory requirements across East Africa. 6. Compensation & Benefits Support compensation reviews, salary benchmarking, and annual reward processes. Ensure competitive compensation structures aligned with market practices. Manage employee benefits programs and recommend enhancements where necessary. 7. Learning & Development Identify capability gaps and design training interventions. Support leadership development and succession planning initiatives. Drive employee development programs that enhance organizational capability. 8. HR Operations & Compliance Ensure compliance with local labor laws and employment regulations. Maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee records. Oversee HR audits and statutory reporting requirements. Ensure adherence to company policies, ethics, and governance standards. 9. Employee Engagement & Culture Drive employee engagement initiatives and action planning. Conduct engagement surveys and implement improvement initiatives. Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration, accountability, and high performance. 10. HR Analytics & Reporting Monitor HR metrics such as attrition, recruitment, productivity, engagement, and diversity. Prepare HR dashboards and business reports for leadership review. Utilize workforce analytics to support strategic decision-making. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or related field. Master's Degree/MBA in HR preferred. Professional HR Certification (SHRM, HRCI, CIPD, CHRP, or equivalent) preferred. Required Experience Minimum 10+ years of HR experience in a multinational or large regional organization. Proven expertise across: HR Business Partnering Talent Acquisition Performance Management Compensation & Benefits Employee Relations Industrial Relations Learning & Development Organization Development HR Compliance Change Management Experience handling multiple East African countries is highly preferred.
